American Dad

American Dad Basic Information:

Cartoon T.V dads are not the type of people which anyone should really want as an actual father. Sure, they might wake you up for a trip to the moon, but chances are equally good that you'll be woken up for some deadly hijinks regarding human shaped helicopters or nuclear power stations. Of all of these fathers, American Dad stands as one of the more moderate. Does this mean that this pokie is something to be trusted, or should this be left on the screen of your television? Read our review to find out…

This pokie was created by the developers at Playtech. While not the biggest name in the business, Playtech still has a strong place within the pokie community. Since 1999 Playtech have established they have the talent to deliver quality, covering a wide range of electronic casino games.  This game was released on the 16th of May, 2017.

The Playtech system is compatible with a great many devices which are capable of running Flash. This means most PCs, Apple computers and tablets, along with a variety of other mobile devices. Check if your device supports flash, if it does you should be able to run games from Playtech.

The game can also be muted by simply toggling the sound button located on the lower left of the game main screen.

Background:

American Dad is often thought of as the little brother to Family Guy. This is probably because the main creator of Family Guy, Seth Macfarlane, also had a hand in bringing this show to air. Despite this comparison, many people actually prefer the antics of American Dad to those of the Family Guy.

Released in 2005, American Dad follows the Smith family. Consisting of husband and wife, Stan and Francine, children Steve and Hayley, and literal alien, Roger, this middle class family attempts to make their way through life while dealing with obstacles typical of the average family. Obstacles such as attacks by a blood-crazed Santa Claus, and being trapped in stasis-goo-tanks while other members of the family watch football.

As of writing this review the series is currently in its 14th season, with little issues regarding the dropping quality as we see with other cartoons which make it into puberty.

Other Features and Bonuses

American Dad Wild

The wild symbol in American Dad appears as the above roger symbol. While the graphic for this might change, at all times it still uses Roger and his characters as a basis.

American Dad Wheel

The bonuses games in American Dad are selected by the above schmooblydong wheel, a word which is somehow not picked up by the WordPress spellchecker.

This wheel can trigger either respins or free games, depending on how many of them appear on the reels in a single spin. When these do appear an activate they do not need to appear on active paylines.

When these wheels land on reel 1 they spin to determine which of the character features will play, from Stan, Francine, Haley, Steve and Roger.

On reel 3 these wheels powerup each feature in a different way.

On reel 5 the wheel spins to determine the amount of free games, if a free game is triggered.

The American Dad bonus games are won in two separate ways. The first is by having the wheels appear on reels 1 and 3 only, during a single spin. When this occurs the player will simply receive a re-spin.

When these appear on reels 1,3 and 5 in a single spin the player will gain access to one of the 5 bonus games. The first wheel determines the game which they player will enter. The second gives different bonuses on each feature. The wheel on reel 5 determines the exact number of free spins which will play out. Details on the individual games are in the following section.

Bonus Games

  • When gaining a Stan on the first wheel the Stacking Stan bonus game begins

While in this game additional Stan symbols will be added to the reels, below each existing Stan. The wheel on reel 3 determines how many Stan symbols we be added per stack.

  • When gaining a Roger on the first wheel the Roger's Random Wilds game begins

In this game Roger will vomit random wilds onto the reels with each spin. The wheel on reel 3 determines exactly how many random wilds will be added.

  • When Gaining a Francine on the first wheel the Francine's Holy Gail game begins

In this game the fish, Claus, will appear as patches on random reel positions. If the Francine symbol lands on one of these patches she will become and expanding wild. The wheel on reel 3 determines how many Claus patches appear on the reels.

  • When gaining a Hayley on the first wheel the Hayley's Progressing Multiplier game begins

In this Haley collects signatures on every spin. Every signature which she collects increases the win multiplier. The wheel on reel 3 determines the initial win multiplier which the game starts with.

  • When gaining a Steve on the first wheel the Wheel and the Legman game begins

In this game Wheels and the Legman chase across the reels, leaving a trail of wilds for each spin. The wheel on reel 3 determines how many wilds these two will leave on their path.

How to Play:

Basic play for American Dad is as simple as a player selecting a betting amount and clicking spin.

Clicking the autoplay button allows the player to go through a selection of different amounts of autospins.

Overall Design and Usability:

As is often the case when it comes to Playtech, American Dad is a licensed pokie which perfectly captures both the theme and attitude of its show. This means perfectly accurate images set on a background of Stan Smith's favourite thing ever – the American Flag. This quality extends to the animation of the reels themselves – an aspect which is often overlooked. The game even goes so far as to include a great deal of Roger's multiple characters as wild symbols, which shows some real reverence to the source material. This could have been a simple tie-in job here, so credit to Playtech for putting in the effort.

In terms of usability this is a game which performs quite well, though it does have some room for improvement. On the positive side – the game runs very well, and we saw no issues at regarding reliability showing up in our testing process. Where the game could improve is in the area of options. Graphics options are sorely missed here, and mean that players on older or less powerful hardware might suffer performance issues. Likewise the autospin function is rather average, and could use greater levels of customisability.

Where to find it:

Playtech may not be as common as the big boys in the business, but they still do very well. Check out the following links for website reviews which offer games from the Playtech framework. From here you can decide which casino works for you, and you can jump right in!

Rating:

Yet another game which makes it immediately obvious why Playtech are so often the go-to choice when it comes to licensed games. American Dad is not only a great licensed game – it is a great pokie game full-stop. With a look which shows obvious respect to the source material, as well as a great bonus structure, American Dad is a pokie which can recommend for anyone – not just those who are already fans of the theme. In fact the only areas in which this game suffers are the lack of graphical options – which is a minor problem due to the simplicity of the game, and the lack of autospin stopping options, which might be a bit of a put-off for some players. If these don't bother you then jump on in, it might even make a fan of you.

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective

Ace Ventura Basic Information:

Detectives, as we all know, are a very real and very necessary thing in our modern society. Pet detectives, however, do not exist, though maybe they should. Background:

The character of Ace Ventura is one which is immediately recognisable to anyone who has seen either of the films. Ventura, as played by rubber-person Jim Carrey, has two films in its series – Pet Detective (1994) and When Nature Calls (1995).

The general premise here is that Ventura is, as the name suggests, a pet detective. This essentially means that he is employed by various individuals to solve mysteries relating to animals. Typically these are things such as animals escaping, or being stolen.

Ace accomplishes his tasks by being an unhinged maniac, sane enough that he remains a free man, yet outrageous enough that no person is quite sure whether or not he'll explode at any moment. Combine this with a great script and the natural comedy genius of Jim Carrey and you have a couple of films which have done a great job at standing the test of time.

Other Features and Bonuses

Ace Ventura comes with 3 random features which can be randomly activated during any spin in the main game. These are as follows:

  • Jungle Friends

With this feature Ace will appear and summon his friends, which places additional wilds on the board.

  • Sneaky Walky

When this feature activates Ace will sneak across the reels, adding random amounts of wild stacks as he goes.

  • Loser

This can respin any losing spin. This will continue, creating and adding to a score multiplier, until a win is finally collected.

Ace Ventura Wild

The wild symbol in Ace Ventura appears as the above icon. This can appear on all reels and can substitute for any symbol except for the scatter and animal modifiers.

Ace Ventura Bonus

The bonus symbol in Ace Ventura appears as the above rhino icon. These can appear on reels 1,3 and 5. When 3 of these are gained in a single spin the player gains access to 7 free spins with 6 possible animal modifiers. These animal modifiers will appear in the main game, and are collected when they do so. These can then be used in the free spins bonus game for additional rewards. These are listed in the section below.

Bonus Games

The free spins bonus game in Ace Ventura is won when the player gains 3 bonus symbols in a single spin. In this game the player is awarded with 7 free spins. They also have the ability to use the animal modifiers which were collected in regular play. Usually two of these can be used at once, though this can increase to 3 when one of these modifiers appears with a key. The different modifiers are as follows:

  • Shark Card

When this is used the player will gain additional free spins.

  • Elephant Card

When this card is used the player gains the use of expanded reels. This means an additional row of reels will appear on the bottom of the pre-exising reels.

  • Gorilla Card

When this card is used the symbols displayed will be upgraded, leaving more with a higher worth.

  • Bat Card

When this card is selected the player will gain random wild on every spins.

  • Dove Card

When this card is used the player will gain access to a reel 3 wild multiplier.

  • Dolphin Card

When this card is used the player will gain access to a mystery win modifier.

Thus by combining the player cards it is possible to create your own bonus system, which is a rare and awesome addition.

How to Play:

Basic play for Ace Ventura is as simple as a player selecting a betting amount and clicking spin.

Clicking the autoplay button allows the player to go through a selection of different amounts of autospins.

Overall Design and Usability:

When you make a game about Ace Ventura you can easily assume than sensibility is going to thrown out the window. The films are so absurd that the designers had a lot of leeway to create their own interpretation, and in this way Playtech have done a great job. Opting for a cartoonish and colourful look, rather than simply relying on an overuse of actual images from the films, Playtech bring a lot of character to this pokie. This is accomplished through the use of light colours, and a few chosen images and caricatures from the films. All told, this creates a look as if the reels are a sort of postcard sent from Ventura, light but fun. It's a tricky thing to get all those factors working so well together, yet Playtech have made it look easy.

When it comes to usability this is a game which performs very well. During our testing procedure we found no issue at all with the game, either in terms of performance or reliability. It is a little bit disappointing that the game does not come with graphics options, though. These can help players on older or less powerful hardware get in on the action, so by missing these they are effectively cutting their player base. We would also have liked for there to be a few more useful options in the autospins function, as those that currently exist are quite limited.

Rating:

Playtech does it again. Once again we have a pokie from Playtech which would be fantastic even if it wasn't based on films which we are huge fans of. Ace Ventura brings with it a bright and colourful look, combined with a fun and customisable bonus structure into a pokie which can be enjoyed by all manner of pokie enthusiasts. In fact the only thing letting this game down are a slight lack of options, though even that won't prevent this game from doing something special.

Hong Kong Tower

Hong Kong Tower General Information:

Gambling is everywhere. From scratchies to even scratches, you can't go anywhere in this life without catching a glance of someone trying to win it big. While we mostly see this sort of thing confined to casinos, there are other places in which gambling sees a huge amount of popularity. Think of dog-tracks, horse tracks and, in this case, Hong Kong Towers. Note that this is a joke, and you shouldn't walk into a Hong Kong Tower and ask to gamble. I can't predict how security would react, but it's probably best to not take that risk. Is the pokie Hong Kong Tower one worth climbing, or is spending you time and effort to climb this tower a recipe for sore legs and little else? Keep reading our review to find out…

Hong Kong Tower was designed and developed by ELK and was released on April 4, 2017. This team is a group of people with a different focus than many other slot game providers. Rather than simply focus on releasing a great quantity, ELK stick to fewer releases of something different.

As is standard with games offered by the ELK software system, this game will work with most flash enabled devices. This includes desktops, laptops, tablets and mobile phones. It should be noted that ELK do tend to target mobile devices, so if you're looking for pokies on your phone or tablet then check them out.

Hong Kong Tower Main Game Screen

Hong Kong Tower comes with a total of 99 paylines over 5 reels in a 5×3 layout.

  • The minimum bet sits at 0.25
  • The maximum bet sits at 100
  • The return to player offered by this game sits at just under 96.3%, which approaches the high end of average.

BASIC OPTIONS

In order to enter the options menu in Hong Kong Tower the player must first click the three horizontal lines towards the upper-left of the main game screen. When this is clicked they must then choose the settings button. The offered options are as follows:

  • Quickplay

This speeds up the spinning of the slots, leading to less lime waiting around.

  • Sound On

This allows the player to mute all sounds from the game.

  • Game Sounds

When clicked this allows the player to mute all sounds except the music.

  • Music

Wen this is clicked the player toggles on and off the music.

  • Show in Coins

When clicked this changes the currency display to coins, rather than Euros.

OTHER HELPFUL ADDITIONS

Hong Kong Tower comes with some interesting and powerful options thanks to the workers at ELK. By clicking the coins button down the bottom left of the main game screen the player can adjust the automatic betting strategy. This is split between regular and four other potential options. Changing between these pages is accomplished by clicking the left and right buttons on the left and right sides of the screen. The details of these pages are as follows:

NO STRATEGY

When this is selected the player need only choose their total bet from a 3×4 table of total bets. Once this is selected this betting amount will remain constant until changed manually.

OPTIMIZER

When this page is accessed the player is able to choose from a table of 4 different amounts. These are percentages which are derived from a player's total stash. This simply allows the player to keep betting a static percentage.

LEVELLER

When this page is accessed the player is given access to a range of bets in a 3×4 table. A selected bet will automatically raise after 5 consecutive losses, the idea being to recoup losses. This can occur twice, with the maximum bet amount being ten times as great as the starting bet. This strategy resets after a win.

BOOSTER

Another page where the players are given access to a range of bets in a 3×4 table. In this strategy the bet level will jump up 1 level after a loss, up to a maximum of 4 levels. This means a maximum bet of ten times the initial wager. This strategy resets after a win.

JUMPER

Yet another page where the players are given access to a range of bets in a 3×4 table. In this strategy the play's bet will raise 1 level for each winning spin, up to a maximum of 4 levels higher. This is equal to ten times the player's initial bet. This strategy resets after a loss.

The autospin in this game is accessed by holding the spin button. This offers the player 4 options for spin quantities. These are 10x, 25x, 50x and 100x.

Also on offer is general game information which can be accessed by clicking on the three horizontal lines which indicate the options menu. When in this screen the player can choose to simply click the given left and right arrows in order to switch between payouts and payline information, or they can click into the rules screen. When this is clicked the game brings up the basic game rules as well as a general explanation of some of the gambling strategies which the game has on offer.

Background:

Reading a background section in a pokie called Hong Kong Tower, huh? Sorry to disappoint but there really isn't that much to go on here. There is a tower, it is set in Hong Kong. This tower is also lined with incredible jewels and wealth for any which appear to literally fall off the side of the building. Probably not the best long-term financial strategy for the building, but what do I know.

Other Features and Bonuses

Hong Kong Tower Mystery

The mystery symbol in this game comes in the form of a golden Hong Kong Tower symbol. After these symbols come to a rest they transform into another symbol. A revealed bonus symbol counts as 5 bonus symbols.

Hong Kong Tower Bonus

The bonus symbol in Hong Kong Tower appears as the above gold and red yin-yang symbol. Gaining a minimum of 3 of these in a single spin gives the player access to the Wheels of the Sky bonus game. These do not need to appear on an active payline in order to generate a win.

BONUS GAME

The free spins bonus game in Hong Kong Tower is triggered when 3 or more bonus symbols are gathered in a single spin. When 4 of these are gathered the player is given a bonus life in this game, whereas 5 give 2 extra lives.

The Wheels of the Sky bonus game comes in three different levels. The player will always start at level 1. These wheels will spin, and can land on scores, which will vanish after their first collection, and level-ups, which are available on the first two reels only.

Vanished scores will leave an empty space behind. Landing on this point again will take one life from the player. The game will end once all lives have been consumed.

When the player lands on a level up they will jump straight onto the next wheel level, which each higher level offering higher rewards.

How to Play:

Placing your bets in Hong Kong Tower is quite simple, regardless of player level. Simply click the coins button on the lower-left of the main game page and select a strategy. The simplest of these is the no strategy selection, where the player simply chooses their total bet and clicks spin.

From here the player can choose to click through and change their strategy and activate autospins by holding down the autospin button which can be accessed from the betting and the main page. If autospin is not selected the player only needs to hit spin.

Overall Design and Usability:

The look of Hong Kong Tower is one with a focus on simplicity and sleekness. The game is obviously made for a mobile device first, which means a simplified overall design. This also runs the risk of creating a look which does not gel for all desktop users, so that is an issue to keep in mind. The game itself is set against the blue of a Hong Kong tower at night, with the symbols appearing as if they were projected onto the side. There is a lot of colour here, most of it quite striking. While so many colours run the risk of clashing, ELK have managed to pull off a look which avoids this problem. This is a game which looks great, on any type of screen (maybe not black and white CRTs from the 80's).

In terms of usability, Hong Kong Tower is a game which brings with it a great deal of modern quality of life options. Especially fantastic here are the different automated betting scenarios. These are unique to ELK creations, and help cover a lot of the work that many of us find ourselves going through in our natural betting progression. The only area where we could really see some improvement here is with the inclusion of graphical options. While this game is designed first for mobile devices, and it thus quite performant, it still might have some issues running on older or less powerful devices.

Where to find it:

If you already are into mobile gambling then you might already have a favorite site in mind. If this is the case then check around, Sam on the Beach might already be on offer, if it is not, or you want a more direct list, then check out our reviews below. Each of these offer the game by ELK, and by taking a look at our reviews you can easily find a site which works for you!

Rating:

Here we have another great game from ELK, which is best played from a mobile device. This is a pokie which looks great and runs well, but might not offer enough to keep veteran desktop player's entertained for long periods. That said, if you are the type of player who likes to take a few spins in their downtime then we can absolutely recommend this game, just make sure to set your gambling rules properly first!

Super Heroes

Super Heroes Basic Information:

There are some jobs which lend themselves to higher pay than others. Working as a public servant, for example, is usually not a gateway to riches. On the other hand being a CEO might allow a person to obtain far greater levels of wealth. One of the careers which should offer fantastic opportunities for opulence is becoming a Super Hero. Of course those who tend to get a little bit over-enthusiastic here tend to become more villain than hero, but we'll ignore that. Will this pokie help you end up more like Tony Stark, or is it closer to turning you into one of those poor people who Batman beats up in his spare time? Keep reading our review to find out…

Super Heroes was created by the team at Yggdrasil. These aren't the biggest gambling software team out there, but they aspire to great things. Hence their slogan “We are not the biggest but the best”. Whereas other teams have the edge in sheer volume, Yggdrasil focuses on quality, and this game is aims to be a example of these ideals.

As is standard with online pokies, Yggdrasil runs on flash compatible devices. This means most desktop and laptop computers, as well as many tablets and other mobile devices. Generally speaking; if your device can run HTML 5 and Flash then it should be able to run this pokie.

Super Heroes Main Game Screen

Super Heroes comes with a total of 20 paylines over 5 reels in a 3×5 layout.

  • Minimum coin size sits a 0.01
  • Maximum coins size sits at 5.00
  • Minimum bet sits at 0.20
  • Maximum bet sits at 100.00
  • The return to player offered by this game sits at around 96.1%, slightly towards the higher end of RTP's.

OPTIONS

In order to access the options the player must click the small orange circle with the gear icon on the lower left corner of the screen. This options screen is cut into four sections. These sections are as follows:

  • Audio

In this section the player can choose to mute all sound effect or ambient sounds. This also comes with a volume slider for the sounds which are active.

  • Visual

This section comes with the ability turn off the splash screen and change spin speed. Rather than the standard toggle for quickspin, Super Heroes comes with a slider which goes from turtle to hare, much like you would see on a common lawnmower.

  • Options

Yes, there is a further options section in the options screen. Here the player can choose whether they want their display to show coin values, and allow their space-bar to spin the reels.

  • Stop Autoplay

This section allows the player to choose when they want autoplay to stop. There are four possibilities here.

1: If a single win meets or exceeds an entered amount.

2: If cash increased by an entered amount.

3: If cash decreases by an entered amount.

4: When entering the free spins game.

OTHER HELPFUL ADDITIONS

By opening the toolbar by clicking on the small ‘+' to the lower left of the screen a number of extra buttons become available. Aside from the options listed above, there is mute-all, game information and bonus information buttons.

On the main game screen the player can click the coins bet box. Doing do will change the currency display from coins to Euros, which can also be achieved by clicking the win and balance boxes.

Clicking on the Autoplay button, which appears as a circular arrow with a play symbol inside, allows the player to choose how many autospins they want from a list. These are 10, 25, 50, 75, 100, 250, 500, 750, 1000 and infinite spins. These can be stopped manually or by the rules which have been set in the options menu.

Finally, we have the Golden bet button, which can be found to the left of the spin button. The button itself appears as a golden poker chip. When this button is clicked a new screen comes up. From here the player gets to select one of three Golden bets. Each of these offer a different feature. Explanations of these features can be found below in the other features and bonuses section below.

Background:

Superheroes as we know them have been around, in some form, for millennia, depending on your definition of the term. In modern days the term tends to regard heroes from western comic books.

Despite having such a large pool to draw from, Super Heroes appears to create their own original characters in this pokie. While this is more difficult in terms of creation, this is only really a problem for developers without the talent on hand which Yggdrasil have. It also manages to avoid the licensing fees which come with using more notable characters.

Other Features and Bonuses

Super Heroes Wild

The wild symbol in Super Heroes appears as the above wild symbol. These can appear over all reels and can substitute for all symbols except the free spins symbols.

Super Heroes Free Spin

The free spins symbols in this pokie appear as the above brown icons. Gathering at least 3 of these in a single spin gives the player access to the free spins bonus game. These do need need to appear on an active payline in order to generate a payout. These generate free spin in the following quantities:

  • 3 symbols give 4 free spins when gathered
  • 4 symbols give 5 free spins when gathered
  • 5 symbols give 7 free spins when gathered

Also active in the base game is the Super Hero Feature. This can be randomly activated on any spin. When this occurs 2 random heroes are summoned on each side of the game panel where they perform their special feature. These heroes are also randomly assigned a level in this game mode, between 1 and 4. The heroes and their abilities are as follows:

Mirage

The green woman hero. When Mirage appears she turns each high paying symbol into dice. Each dice then spins until a mystery win between 5 and 1,000 coins is awarded for each high paying symbol. The higher Mirage's level the higher the minimum amount of won coins will be.

Raven

The red female hero. When Raven appears she throws a rotating blade, which runs up to 4 random reels into wild reels. The amount of wilds which appear depend on her level, with each level offering that number of wild. Eg. – level 1 give 1 wild, 2 gives 2, etc.

Hopper

The yellow male hero. When Hopper appears he summons a meteor shower. This turns random high and low paying symbols into wilds. The amount of wilds he creates depends on his level. At level 1 he creates 2, with 1 additional wild being added, per level, up to the maximum of 5 at level 4.

Tesla

The purple male hero. When Tesla appears he creates an impact wave. This changes 2-5 random high and low paying symbols into other high and low symbols of one type in order to guarantee a win. The amount of symbols he replaces depends on his level. At level 1 he creates 2, with 1 additional wild being added, per level, up to the maximum of 5 at level 4.

Knox

The orange male hero. This guy shoots a beam into the total win of the spin, multiplying it by up to 5 times. The multiplier here depends on his level. At level 1 he creates 2, with 1 additional wild being added, per level, up to the maximum of 5 at level 4.

How to Play:

Simple play in this game require only one choice from the player. Here, the player only needs to choose their coin value and then hit spin.

For more advanced options the player must rely on the autoplay function and options. To start autospins the player need only click on the autoplay button which is located to the right of the spin button. From here the player only needs to select the amount of spins they want from the displayed list and then click spin. Stopping options for these autospins can be set from within the options menu.

Overall Design and Usability:

Working from a preexisting property give the designer a standard to reach to, an end point they can understand well. For games such as this, where Yggdrasil creates their own thing, the talent and imagination of the team is really put to the test. This is a test which Yggdrasil have nailed, as they so often do. Set against the skyline of a futuristic city, Super Heroes uses a city at dawn as its backdrop. From here the heroes and symbol all adhere to colour-schemes which are both imaginative and well suited to each-other and the rest of the theme. Great work all around here, as we have grown to expect.

In terms of usability – almost all of the options which players have grown to expect are included here. This means fantastic customisability settings, on top of a game which is both fast to respond, and reliable. In fact, the only area with this pokie which we see real room for improvement is in the lack of graphics options. Yggdrasil often do this, so it makes us wonder is this is the case because they want their game to be a consistently pretty experience. Whatever the reason, the result is the same – players on older or less powerful hardware might have some issues getting this pokie to play well.

Where to find it:

Yggdrasil isn't as common as the big boys like Microgaming and NetEnt. This means that it is usually only offered on the largest gambling sites or some of the more targeted smaller ones, if you already have a favourite site then search around, you might find that the game is already on offer.

If it isn't, or if you want a more specific list then you can check out our reviews on some on of the following sites. These all have Super Heroes available:

Rating:

Yet another case of Yggdrasil making a game so good it makes others look bad. Super Heroes is a pokie with an enormous amount on offer. From its looks to its bonus structure, this is a pokie which sets its sights above the rest, and succeeds in hitting its target. This is a game which we can recommend for all players, though we should note that newer players should not grow to expect this level of detail and attention in most other pokies. A great effort by a team of talented developers.

Double Dragons

Double Dragons Basic Information:

It is a common misconception that dragons only eat people. While they have been known to chomp down on the occasional fool or particularly tasty looking individual their main diet consists of gold. This also explains why they spend so much time sitting on piles of gold and sleeping. As good as it might feel, the digestive system is not equipped to handle nuggets, crowns and cutlery, so the dragon's likely spend most of their time in a state of malnutrition and metal poisoning. Are these Double Dragons worth fighting, or are you likely to get eaten twice as fast? Read our review to find out…

Double Dragons was created by the team at Yggdrasil. These aren't the biggest gambling software team out there, but they aspire to great things. Hence their slogan “We are not the biggest but the best”. Whereas other teams have the edge in sheer volume, Yggdrasil focuses on quality, and this game aims to be an example of this.

As is standard with online pokies, Yggdrasil runs on flash compatible devices. This means most desktop and laptop computers, as well as many tablets and other mobile devices. Generally speaking; if your device can run HTML 5 and Flash then it should be able to run this pokie.

Background:

Dragons have appeared in mythology all throughout human history. From the large and broad beasts of Christianity to the slender flying-snake like dragons of China, the idea has proved popular enough to stand the test of time.

Double Dragons does not appear to be based off of any preexisting dragon property or mythology. Instead they simply appear to be an interpretation of Chinese dragons into a modern pokie game. No muss, no fuss.

Other Features and Bonuses

The first of the feature on offer from this game is the Dropdown Win feature. This feature becomes active each time a winning combination is created. When this is done the winning symbols will vanish from the board. Following this, additional symbols will drop in from the top of the game screen into the empty slots. Further matches will repeat this process until no further wins are possible.

If the Dropdown Win feature is active for 4 consecutive wins the player also gains the use of the Double Dragon feature. With this feature active 2 high-stack wilds will be added the board. These can be between 7 and 28 symbols long.

Double Dragons Wild

The wild symbols in Double Dragons can appear as either blue or red, ice or fire. When these take part in a combination they will trigger a further effect, depending on their type. When the Fire Dragon wild is active it will convert 2-3 additional regular symbols into wilds. If the Ice Dragon wild activates it will multiply the dropdown win by 2x.

Double Dragons Dragon Heads

When these wilds activate they take the form of a dragon head, such as the fire one displayed above. Each time one of these appears they will add one to the counter on the right side of the screen. Fire dragons give red gems, whereas ice dragons give blue. One a total of 9 of these have been gathered the player will gain access to the free spins bonus game.

BONUS GAMES

The free spin bonus game in Double Dragons is activated when the player gains at least 9 coloured gems of either blue or red. Each of these will give out their own special version of the free spins game, Fire Spins or Ice Spins. If both of these are triggered simultaneously the Fire Dragon spins will play out first.

During all free spins mode the player needs only gain 2 consecutive dropdown wins in order to activate the Double Dragons feature.

The difference between the types of spins comes down to the additional wilds which will be placed on the reels. While in the Fire Spins bonus game the player will be given additional Fire wilds. In the Ice Spins bonus game the player will gain access to additional Ice wilds.

When you create a game with dragons as a theme you have two main avenues. You can make a cartoonish design, simply but not especially attractive, or you can make a more involved 3d design. This second method requires a lot more work, otherwise it runs the risk of looking awful. Yggdrasil have, as they tend to do, met this challenge head on. Here their use of high quality graphics and animations help show why they do so well. The look here mostly involves dark colours, with the lighter parts being used for the eyes of the dragons, and the various collectable gems. Great work on this front, not many could have pulled off what Yggdrasil did here.

In terms of usability, this is a game which offers a good deal. Almost everything which the average and advanced users could want is included within this game, and done so in a way which is both simple and effective. This is also a game which showed no reliability issues during our testing process, and was nothing but both fast and responsive. In fact, the only areas which we could take issue with in this pokie is the lack of graphical options. This is an impressive looking game, so it might not play so well on older or less powerful hardware. Because of this it might exclude some of us, which we don't love.

These all have Double Dragons available:

Rating:

Double Dragons might be initially disappointing to those players who go in expecting a modern retake on the old console games, for everyone else disappointment is not on the cards. Double dragons is a game which looks fantastic, plays well, and has a fun bonus structure. Yggdrasil yet again show us why it is their name is synonymous with quality. All range of players, from newbies to veterans, should be able to find something to love about this pokie.

Options

Well of Wonders is typical of a ThunderKick game in that it does not offer a separate options screen. Instead, nearly everything within this game can be done from the main game screen. The different buttons and their purposes on this screen are as follows:

  • Sound

When toggled this option simply turns on or mutes all game sound.

  • Information

This option is the 3×3 dot formation button which is located on the lower left of the main game screen. Clicking on this brings up a tab with a cup and a page symbol. Clicking the page will bring the player to a simple list of game rules. By clicking on the cup players will enter a page which details the different symbols, paylines and bonuses.

  • Bet

Clicking on this button brings up a screen where the player can select their bet from a list of 14 different amounts. This is also accomplished by clicking on the ‘1' chip on the play bar.

  • Spin

The button used to spin.

Also on offer from The Epic Journey is the autoplay function. This is accessed by clicking on the smaller spin button the left of the main spin button. When this is clicked the player will be brought to a new screen. On this screen the player is able to select from 10 different autospin quantities. The player can also toggle an option which, when active, stops the autoplays when a feature is won.

Background:

Well of Wonder does not appear to have any sort of preexisting backstory. From what we can tell it appears to be some sort of well, one which potentially offers great wonders within.

Other Features and Bonuses

The dropping symbols feature in Well of Wonders is constantly active. With this feature any matches are removed from the reels. Following this, additional symbols will fall from above, potentially creating new matches. This process will repeat until there are no longer winning combinations available.

The  multiplier feature also remains active through the entire game. With this feature each symbol drop, via the above feature, will increase the score multiplier. This begins at 1x and will increase through 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x and 32x.

Well of Wonders Wild

The wild symbol in Well of Wonders comes in the form of the above W icon. These can appear over all reels and can substitute for any symbol.

Well of Wonders Fairy

The above fairy symbol can appear on any spin. When this is present and there is no win on that spin the fairy is activated. When this activates all symbols that appear in singular will disappear, giving the player a respin and a multiplier increase.

Bonus Games

There really aren't any bonus games to speak of on offer by Well of Wonders. Instead, the only sort of respins which players can gain within this game are tied to the above features.

How to Play:

Basic play for Well of Wonders is as simple as a player selecting a betting amount and clicking spin.

Alternatively the player can click on the autoplay button toward the bottom right of the main game page in order to enter the autoplay section. When in this section the player can set an amount of spins to played out automatically. They can also set ending rule which can be used to stop these free spins.

Overall Design and Usability:

Another Thunderkick game which revolves around the idea of simplicity. The game here has been created as one which is quick and fun, and the look of the game reflects this. The general look here is one of the eponymous well, placed in the middle of a verdant green forest. Aside from this, we have the floating coloured gems and background fireflies to leave a look which is both attractive and clean. This quality also extends to the animations, all of which are of the highest quality. When Thunderkick try they really try, and this game is a great example of this, at least in terms of looks.

Let's start with the good – the speed and reliability in this game were absolutely perfect during our testing process. Everything responds well, and as it should. Issues in usability come from the lack of options. While this game does cover a lot of the basics it does not cover them especially well. This creates a situation where older or more experienced players might not be able to pull themselves back to this level of simplicity. Nowhere is this more evident that in the lack of graphical options. As these can be such a huge help to players on older and less powerful hardware these are sorely missed.

Where to find it:

ThunderKick may not be as common as the big boys in the business, but they still do very well. Check out the following links for website reviews which offer games from the ThunderKick framework. From here you can decide which casino works for you, and you can jump right in!

Rating:

A great looking pokie, but one which is ultimately quite shallow. This is a pokie with only a minimal bonus structure, though this is somewhat alleviated by the moderate RTP. This is not a game which we could see as a great fit for many players, unless you fit a few criteria. If you are the type of player who wants something basic and simple to play then we can easily recommend this game. If, however, you are the type of player who demands more from their pokie games then this one might be worth a miss. It's not that this is a bad game, far from it, it is more that there really isn't much there.

Incinerator

Incinerator Basic Information:

In our lives there are many places which can hide hidden wealth. Maybe you might find a $20 note in a pair of old pants, or perhaps uncover something valuable which has been sitting in your attic for a decade. Less likely of the places to find something useful is the inspiration for this game. Is this one of the rare Incinerators which leave us with something special, or is this pokie more likely to leave us smelling like burned garbage? Keep reading our review to find out…

Incinerator was created by the team at Yggdrasil. These aren't the biggest gambling software team out there, but they aspire to great things. Hence their slogan “We are not the biggest but the best”. Background:

Incinerator is more than just an interesting concept – it has an actual backstory! In this pokie we take control of a space incinerator. Our job is to help reduce the amount of clutter which fills the void of space, and uncover anything of worth which might be hidden within. How do we accomplish this feat? Though burning everything down, of course.

Incinerator Wild Patterns

If the Dropdown Win feature is active for 3 consecutive wins the player also gains the use of the Wild Pattern feature. This feature appears on the left side of the screen during all spins, but is only active when the above occurs. When this activates the pattern on this box will transfer over onto the main reels. Every box which is lit will have the corresponding box transform into a wild symbol.

Incinerator Wild

The wild symbol in Incinerator appear as the above icon. These can appear over all reels and can substitute for all other symbols. These pay only the highest winning combination from that spin, from left to right.

BONUS GAMES

There are not, unfortunately, any bonus games when it comes to Incinerator. Instead, the player must rely entirely on the above two features.

The theme of incinerators and space junk is one which could easily lend itself to a less than attractive appearance. Yggdrasil, as they usually do, saw this as a challenge, and easily overcame it. This is a pokie which looks both futuristic and relatively simple and clean. Not exactly an easy combination to pull off, but one which the team at Yggdrasil dominated. The look here has fair inclusion of colour, most representing the space junk which is being dropped into the incinerator. From here the machine itself has a heavy industrial look, while still including the flourish which science fiction has taught us to expect from space based machines. A great look overall.

When it comes to usability – this is a game which brings a lot features. Almost everything which even veteran players have come to expect are included within this game, including a great deal of useful options. The only area where we feel the game could have used some improvement is in the place of graphics options. There are so often missing, which constantly disappoints us. In effect, this means that players on older or less powerful devices might not be able to get in on the action. The rest of the game plays and operates very well, with no issues arising during our testing process.

Where to find it:

Yggdrasil isn't as common as the big boys like Microgaming and NetEnt. This means that it is usually only offered on the largest gambling sites or some of the more targeted smaller ones, if you already have a favourite site then search around, you might find that the game is already on offer.

Rating:

A good looking game, and one with a lot of potential, but ultimately a game which is let down by a lack of features. While we are big fans of the wild pattern bonus, this alone is not enough. Combine this with a lack of other bonuses and you end up with a pokie which is difficult to recommend. This is certainly good for a quick play, and what is available to play is of undeniably high quality, but there is simply not enough there to appeal to anybody who wants something more involved.

Snowflake

Snowflake Basic Information:

Want to create a pokie with a unique theme? Why not make one based on snowflakes, some of the most naturally beautiful and unique weather phenomenon we have? Seeing as how well this concept works as a theme we here at CasinoPokies24.com are surprised we don't see more games set on this idea. Does the game itself measure up to the theme, or is this a case of uniqueness setting this pokie aside as a perpetual ugly duckling? Read our review to find out…

This pokie was created by the developers at NextGen Gaming. These guys are another software designer with a heavy focus on slot based games. While not as prolific as the likes of Microgaming or NetEnt, this team does not let their lesser visibility affect the quality of their creations.  This game was released on the 23rd of February, 2017.

The NextGen system is compatible with a great many devices which are capable of running Flash. This means most PCs, Apple computers and tablets, along with a variety of other mobile devices. Check if your device supports flash, if it does you should be able to run games from NextGen.

Snowflakes Main Game Screen

Snowflake comes with a total of 25 paylines over 5 reels in a 3×5 layout.

  • The minimum coins bet are static.
  • The maximum coins bet are static.
  • Minimum coin size sits a 0.30
  • Maximum coins size sits at 600.00
  • The return to player offered by this game is 96.58%, which approaches the higher end of average.

Options

Snowflake is a game built around simplicity, and because of this the game has a notable lack of options. Snowflake has the majority of its options available from the main game screen.

These include:

  • Betting Quantity Buttons

These simple increase or decrease the bet per line, though the paylines themselves cannot be customised.

  • Maximum Bet

This is the button which appears as a stack of gold coins, in the lower left of the main game screen. When this is clicked it will automatically set the amount bet to the maximum.

Gear Button

This is used to open the main options screen. When in this screen the player has access to four different tabs. These include the following:

  • Autoplay

When this button is clicked the player is brought to the autoplay settings screen. From this screen the player is able to use a slider to determine the amount of autospins which they wish to play out.

  • Audio

When this button is clicked it operates as a simple means to mute all game noise.

  • Coins

This simply acts as another way for the player to change their betting quantity.

  • i information button

This is used to open the main game information screen. This section includes helpful information on symbols, game rules and payouts.

Background:

Funnily enough, there really isn't a lot to go into here when it comes to background. The entire basis of this game is in the title – snowflake.

The interesting thing about these ice crystals is that you will never find two which are exactly the same. While this can be said of literally everything, it has found a place within our culture as another term for special, or unique. It also doesn't hurt that the snow can be quite striking and beautiful.

Other Features and Bonuses

Snowflake comes with two special feature. The first of these is the icy wild feature. This can occur randomly after any spin within the base game. When this activates up to 5 symbols (maximum 1 per reel) may be changed into additional wilds.

The wild wind feature can also be randomly activated within any spin. When this feature occurs up to 5 wild symbols will be placed on the reels for that spin (maximum 1 per reel).

Snowflakes Wild

The wild symbol in Snowflake comes in the form of this rather attractive icon set in ice. This can substitute for any symbol except for the scatter, and can appear in both the base game and the frozen wilds bonus game.

Snowflakes Scatter

The scatter symbol in Snowflake appears as the above ice ball (is that what it is?). These do not need to appear on an active payline in order to generate a win. When at least 3 of these are gathered in a single spin the player gains access to the frozen wilds bonus game. These also act as score multipliers, via the following contributions:

  • 3 scatters give a 125x multiplier and 7 free spins when gathered
  • 4 scatters give a 500x multiplier and 10 free spins when gathered
  • 5 scatters give a 2500x multiplier and 15 free spins when gathered

Bonus Games

The frozen wilds free game in Snowflake is won when the player manages to gain at least 3 scatter symbols in a single spin. During this game the free spins will play out much like the regular game, except for free. The total amount used as the wager in this game is taken from the amount which was bet in the game in which the free spins bonus game was won. Additional free spins can be won from within this game.

How to Play:

Basic play for Snowflake is as simple as a player selecting a betting amount and clicking spin.

Clicking the autoplay button allows the player to go through a selection of different amounts of autospins.

Overall Design and Usability:

There are a lot of fantastic looking pokies out there. Those that look the best tend to have a strong basis in an attractive piece of art, history or nature. Snowflake is a fantastic example of this. Utilising the beautiful appearance of these crystals through a combination of high quality graphics and animation leads to one of the best looking pokies we are yet to review. Mostly sticking to the use of blues and whites, both in terms of the background and symbols, does a lot to sell the idea of a frozen wonderland. This extends to the snow effects, slowly drifting down from the top of the screen. Great work all around on this front.

When it comes to usability, this is a game which has some struggles. The game itself is fully reliable, with no issues arising in our testing process. This extends to the buttons themselves, which are all fast to respond. The issues here come from the lack of other options. This is a pokie with a weak autoplay system, which is also held back by a lack of graphics options. These are key in helping players on older or less powerful devices to get in on the action, so their omission is a bit of a sore point.

Rating:

A great looking game, perfect for beginners. This is one of those games which offers a high level quality, but only a limited scope. This means that while what is in the game is great, there isn't really enough there to keep veteran players engaged for too long. This is exacerbated by the issue that the game lacks strong autoplay options, and graphical options for players on older or less powerful devices. If you are new to pokies, or just want a quick game on something beautiful then check this one out. If you are the type of player who wants a huge and engaging pokie then this might not be the one for you.

Batman

Batman Basic Information:

Spiderman gained his powers through getting bitten by a radioactive spider. The Flash gained his powers in a flash of chemicals and lightning. Batman then, it stands to reason, may well have gained his powers through a bite of a radioactive bat, right? No, actually. Super-rabies aside, the character of the Batman is one of the best known and popular super heroes of all time. Through his brain power and billions of dollars, Bruce Wayne has managed to stand toe to toe with some of the most dangerous enemies in the universe – and come out on top. Can we rely on his humanity to bring us victory through this pokie, or is this a case where the Batman is in dire need of preparation time? Keep reading our review to find out…

This pokie was created by the developers at NextGen Gaming. These guys are another software designer with a heavy focus on slot based games. While not as prolific as the likes of Microgaming or NetEnt, this team does not let their lesser visibility affect the quality of their creations.  This game was released on the 12th of July, 2016.

The NextGen system is compatible with a great many devices which are capable of running Flash. This means most PCs, Apple computers and tablets, along with a variety of other mobile devices. Check if your device supports flash, if it does you should be able to run games from NextGen.

Batman Main Game Screen

Batman comes with a total of 50 paylines over 5 reels in a 4×5 layout.

  • The minimum coins bet is 0.50
  • The maximum coins bet is 50.00
  • Minimum coin size is static
  • Maximum coins size is static
  • The return to player offered by this game is 92.2%, which is well below average.

Options

Batman is a game built around simplicity, and because of this the game has a notable lack of options. Rather than the traditional option screen, Batman has the majority of its options available from the main game screen.

  • Audio Button

Moving the cursor over this button gives the player the ability to either set the volume at a specific level or mute the entire game.

  • i Button

This is used to open the main game information screen. This section includes helpful information on symbols, game rules and payouts.

  • Autoplay

When this button is clicked the player is brought to the autoplay settings screen. From this screen the player is able to use a slider to determine the amount of autospins which they wish to play out. They can also simply set it to the last used settings.

  • Bonus Bet

This is the button which is located to the lower right of the main game screen. When this is active each spin will cost 10 more coins. While this is active additional wilds will randomly appear on each spin, on reels 2,3 and 4. This also activates the Descent into Madness Feature, which is listed in the other features and bonuses section below.

Background:

The character known as Batman first appeared in 1939, in Detective Comics #27. Since then he has found his way into the pantheon of greatest super-heroes, despite the fact that his only superpower is wealth.

Bruce Wayne, at least in most incarnations of the story, is the son of Martha and Thomas Wayne. After leaving a film after being frightened, the apparently genius Thomas leads his family out through the literally named Crime Alley. Shockingly enough, once in this alley the Wayne family run into some crime. An attempted robbery goes sour as the robber kills both of Bruce's parents, before vanishing into the night.

Having just inherited billions of dollars, and with nothing but revenge and justice on his mind, the young Bruce spends his formative years developing his combat and detective skills to help fight and prevent further injustice. Together with his butler, Alfred, and a growing family of Bat-people, the Batman joins other superheroes in keeping the City of Gotham, and the world, safe.

Other Features and Bonuses

The Batman Re-Spin Feature gives the player 3 free re-spins when the Commissioner Gordon symbol appears on reel 1, and the Bat Signal appears on reel 5, or vice versa. During this feature stacked wilds can randomly appear on reels 2,3 or 4, and will be held there through the duration of the feature.

Batman Wild

The wild symbol in Batman comes in the form of the above Batman. This can appear on reels 2,3 and 4 only, and can substitute for all symbols except the scatter and bonus. When this appears as part of a win that payline will be doubled.

Batman Bonus

The bonus symbol in Batman appears as the above bat symbol. When three or more of these appear in a single spin the player gains access to the Descent into Madness bonus game.

Batman Scatter

The scatter symbol within this game appears as the above bat symbol. These do not need to appear on the same payline in order to generate a win. They can also act as multipliers for payouts. The multipliers generated come in the following quantities:

  • 2 scatters give a 100x multiplier when gathered
  • 3 scatters give a 200x multiplier when gathered
  • 4 scatters give a 750x multiplier when gathered
  • 5 scatters give a 5000x multiplier when gathered

Bonus Games

The bonus feature is won when the player manages to gain a minimum of 3 bonus symbols in a single spin. These can only appear when the bonus bet is active. When this game is activated Batman will be taken to a new screen where Batman must target inmates with with his Baterang in order to win prizes. Once this round is over the player will be brought to another screen where a similar game plays out against the Joker. If the player manages to hit the Joker with his weapon 3 times the game is won, and the player will be gifted a bonus of up to 100x the triggering bet.

How to Play:

Basic play for Batman is as simple as a player selecting a betting amount and clicking spin.

Clicking the autoplay button allows the player to go through a selection of different amounts of autospins.

Overall Design and Usability:

It's difficult to choose the most popular form of Batman. While the comics are obviously the starting point, most people will be more familiar with the films or TV series. This is a pokie which has gone back to the source, taking from the comics in a way that should appear to fans of comic books and Batman in his more traditional forms. This means art and panels which appear to have been directly lifted from the pages of the comic books. While the quality here is not quite up to the standard of the NextGen Superman pokie, it is still quite well done. This means the dark night of the Dark Knight, his gadgets, his allies and his enemies appear as symbols for this pokie.

In terms of usability Batman is a little bit disappointing. When it comes to playability and reliability the game is great, the issue comes from a lack of options. This means that players on older or less powerful devices lack the ability to turn down the graphics or effects the make the game run better on their machines, which is a little bit of a let down. This lack of options also applies to the other areas in the game, including the autoplay function.

Rating:

The Dark Knight brings some great components to this game, though the pokie is not without its issues. The general look of the game is great, especially for those of us who are fans of comic books. Likewise the bonus structure is strong, especially when the bonus bet feature is active. The only real issues here are those common to NextGen games. This is that they miss out on some options which are key to certain players. The first of these is the lack of a robust autoplay. This means that veteran players might be turned off at the amount of attention this game necessitates. The other issue is one of graphics, as this game comes without any graphics options. This means that pokie players on less powerful or older devices might have some issues getting the game to run correctly, which can be a huge letdown.

If you keep these issues in mind, and they both bother you as a player, then we can absolutely recommend this pokie.

The Cheshire Cat

Cheshire Cat Basic Information:

Alice in Wonderland is a strange story. The whole things is reminiscent of a dream a small girl might have if she got into some cheese laced with a powerful hallucinogen. Of all the components of this story, perhaps none are as well known as the Cheshire Cat. Does this cat have enough to carry a pokie on his own, or is this a cat which would be better off being put outside before they make a mess out of your carpet? Keep reading our review to find out…

This pokie was created by the developers at WMS. Based out of Chicago, USA, WMS gaming has its base in the world of physical gambling. These guys entered the pokie world in 1994, and since then have built up a popular organisation in a very competitive industry. Not content with their success in the world of physical gambling, WMS now takes aim on the world of digital gambling.

The WMS system is compatible with a great many devices which are capable of running Flash. This means most PCs, Apple computers and tablets, along with a variety of other mobile devices. Check if your device supports flash, if it does you should be able to run games from WMS.

Cheshire Cat main game screen

Cheshire Cat comes with a total of 40 paylines over 5 reels in a 5×4 formation

  • The minimum coins bet are 0.40
  • The maximum coins bet are 100.00
  • Minimum coin size is 0.01
  • Maximum coins size is 2.50

The main options screen from Cheshire Cat is accessed by clicking the gear icon on the bottom of the main game screen. The options here come with one option – the ability to mute all noise.

Additional Game Options and Buttons

These are the options which are changed from the main game screen itself.

The paylines information button, when clicked from the bottom centre of the main game screen, gives the player a list of the paylines, symbols and bonus structure, with images.

The bet button comes with simple + and – icons. Clicking on these will change the bet, from the minimum to the maximum.

  • Spin

The button used to spin.

  • Autoplay

When this button is clicked it brings the player into the autoplay section. Within this section the players can select from three different options before they begin their spins. The first of these is the number of autospins to be played out. Second is the stopping option which works when the player selects how much money should be lost before the game autostops. The third option allows the player to select a single win amount which will end the autoplay if it is met, or exceeded.

These autoplays can be stopped manually from the main game screen at any time during their spins.

Background:

Taken directly from the Alice's Adventure in Wonderland, by Lewis Carroll, the Cheshire Cat is a terrifying grinning and speaking domestic cat. This cat appears to talk to and confuse the young Alice, speaking on the baffling and philosophical. We aren't sure exactly what this cat desires, but if we assume it is similar to any other domestic cat we can safely assume it is obsessed with the complete domination of the servile human species.

Other Features and Bonuses

Cheshire Cat Wild

The wild symbol in this game comes in the form of the above Cheshire Cat grin symbol. This can appear on all reels and can substitute for any symbol except the bonus. These can also generate additional payouts in the following quantities:

  • 3 give a bonus of 25 when gathered
  • 4 give a bonus of 125 when gathered
  • 5 give a bonus of 1250 when gathered

Cheshire Cat Bonus

The scatter bonus symbol in this game comes in the form of the above roulette type wheel. These do not need to appear on an active payline in order to generate their bonus. These symbols give out bonuses in the following quantities:

  • 3 scatter symbols give 5 free spins when gathered
  • 4 scatter symbols give 10 free spins plus 10x total bet when gathered
  • 5 scatter symbols give 20 free spins plus 50x total bet when gathered

Bonus Games

The free spins bonus game from Cheshire Cat is accessed when the player manages to gain at least 3 scatter bonus symbols on a single reel set, in a single spin.

This free spins game also comes with the mystery symbol. With this feature each time a reel spins a random symbol is selected. Additional symbols of this type will then be added to the reels.

Also with this free spins bonus game is the wheel feature. This feature is accessed whenever a free spins round is won. When this occurs a wheel will appear and spin. Where this lands will determine exactly how many wild reels will appear during the free spins games.

How to Play:

Basic play for Cheshire Cat is as simple as a player selecting a betting amount and clicking spin.

Alternatively the player can click on the autoplay button toward the bottom of the main game page in order to enter the autoplay section. When in this section the player can set ending rules which can be used to stop these auto spins.

Overall Design and Usability:

The design of The Cheshire Cat seems to borrow heavily from the happy and colourful forest and characters within the story of Alice in Wonderland. This includes Alice herself, as well as cake, rabbits, potions and caterpillars. All of these come in a cartoon stylised form which fits well with the original theme and feel of the story. The colour from these reels extends to the background, which also appears as quite colourful and very pleasant.

In terms of usability, this is a game which sits somewhere towards the top of the pack, though it could do with improvement in terms of graphics options. That is to say that the game comes with none, and as these allow players on older and less powerful devices to get in on the action they are sorely missed. Other than that the game runs very well. Every button and option here responds quickly, and we saw no problem at all with reliability show up during out entire testing process.

Rating:

You never really know what to expect when it comes to a pokie based off of a tale such as this. As it turns out, The Cheshire Cat is a very solid entry into the world of online pokies. While the game might not offer enough to keep veteran players interested for long, anybody who is a fan of theme, or newer players looking to get their hands on a nice entry into pokies should not skip this one by. Who knows, maybe you'll win enough to wear a Cheshire grin of your own.
