Options

By clicking on the spanner icon towards the lower left of the game screen the player can access the options menu. This is only a small menu consisting of a total of four options. These are listed below.

Game Settings
  • By clicking on the spanner icon towards the lower left of the game screen the player can access the options menu. This menu is split into 5 sections, listed below:
    Game Settings
    • Quickspin

Enabling this option speeds up the spinning of the reels. This means that these is less time spent waiting around between the time you click spin and when the reels come to rest, speeding up the entire experience.

    • Intro Screen

This option disables the intro screen from appearing the next time the player starts the game.

    Animations
    • Intro

Much like the Intro Screen option, this one disables the short intro animation from playing when the game is loaded up.

    • Animations

This option toggles the animations of the symbols. This option helps reduce the load on older or less powerful devices, and helps the game run better.

    Audio
    • Ambience sound
    • Sound Effects

These two options are used to individually mute the applicable sound source.

    Graphics Quality
    • High
    • Medium
    • Low

These options are used to switch between the different graphical settings. While higher settings will look better they are also a bigger drain on the power of the device. While this is very helpful, and an appreciated option, it should be noted that the game is over 5 years old at the time of writing. This means the game shouldn’t be very demanding on most current machines anyway.

    Win Animations
    • Quick win presentation

This option speeds up the win animations of the game, making the game overall faster to play.

Additional options can be accessed by clicking on the autoplay button. The basic options here allow the play to select from 10, 25, 50, 75, 100, 250, 500, 750 or 1000 autospins.

The player can also click on the advanced settings button to further customise when their autoplay will end. There are five different stopping scenarios to choose from here:

    • On any win
    • If Free Spins are won
    • When a single win exceeds an entered amount
    • If cash increases by an entered amount
    • If cash decreases by an entered amount

Other Helpful Additions

Robin Hood: Shifting Riches also comes with question-mark and Paytable icons. Both of these detail much the same thing, basic game and winning information, but the Paytable button does this within the game and the question-mark opens a secondary text page. The page accessed by the Paytable button also lists all payout information, paylines and bonus info.

Background:

The original Robin Hood was a heroic outlaw in English folklore and literature. While Robin Hood was famous for many feats what he is most well-known for is his skill at archery, and his penchant of robbing the rich and giving to the poor.

Together with his loyal band of Merry Men, Robin Hood went about protecting the people of Nottinghamshire, Yorkshire and a number of other locations while keeping hidden within the nearby Sherwood forest. As the local law enforcement, such as the Sheriff of Nottingham, were at best woefully corrupt Robin had his work cut out for him.

Nevertheless, with his team behind him Robin Hood managed to protect the people, going down in fictional history as a hero of the poor, and likely a much maligned villain in the eyes of the fictional historic Tories of the time.

Other Features and Bonuses

The first feature in this game is the shifting reels feature. This kicks in after each win. On a win the reels all fall one position to the right, with the leftmost reel performing an additional spin. This will continue until no more wins are possible. The first reel shift generated a 2x multiplier, the 2nd a 3x multiplier, and the 3rd shift onwards awards the maximum x5 mutliplier.

Robin Hood Shifting Riches Wild Symbol

The wild symbol in Robin Hood: Shifting Riches comes in the form of a golden Robin Hood symbol set on a background of dull green. This can substitute for any symbol except the free spins and treasure symbols.

Robin Hood Shifting Riches Treasure Chest

Robin Hood Shifting Riches Money Bag

The treasure chest in Robin Hood: Shifting Riches comes with random coin amounts contained within, which are revealed when clicked, turning the chest into bags symbols. Collecting four of these in a single chest also generates free spins. If one of these bag symbols is shifted it turns into a wild symbol.

Robin Hood Shifting Riches Free Symbols

The free spins symbol in this game comes in the form of the text FREE SPINS set in front of a black and silver background. These can only appear on reels 3,4 and 5. When 2 of these are gathered in one spin the player is gifted 5 free spins, 3 give 10 free spins.

Bonus Games

Robin Hood Shifting Riches Extra Wilds

The free spins feature in this game in this game is accessed when the player has gained a minimum of 2 free spin symbols in one spin. When this game is running the player is able to choose one of the other game characters symbols which can substitute as a wild symbol during that free spin session.

How to Play:

Basic play for Robin Hood: Shifting Riches is as simple as a player selecting a coin value and level and clicking spin. Alternatively the player can maximise their possible bet by simply clicking on the Max Bet button to the right of the spin icon.

Clicking the autoplay button allows the player to go through a selection of different amounts of autospins. From here the user can also click on the advanced settings button in order to manually select different stopping scenarios. These include on any win, when free spins are won, if a single win exceeds an entered amount, or if cash increased or decreases by an entered amount.

Overall Design and Usability:

Despite being an older game this is one which holds up surprisingly well. While the animations may not be up to the level which we expect today, most everything else is still of extremely high quality. The general design mostly consists of symbols taken from the folktale. All of these are well designed and suited to the theme.

When it comes to usability this is a game does a lot better than many more modern games. The game itself both runs well and is fast to respond, but it is the inclusion of so many options that really help set it above many others. These options are often overlooked today, so it’s nice to see a blast from the past doing so well. Reliability also does not appear to be an issue here, with the game suffering no noticeable problems even on our less powerful testing systems,

Rating:

An oldy but a goodie. This is a game which was one of the best at the time, and it still holds up today as one of the greats. Combine a great look with a fun theme and a fast and reliable system with a great bonus structure and you end up with a fine pokie. Not just for fans of theme. This is a pokie which should be tried out by all interested in fun slot machines, whether a newbie or an older player.

Aloha Cluster

Aloha Cluster Basic Information:

When you think of holidays what comes to mind? Probably a lot of things, but that's my fault for making the question so broad. Let's try again – when you think sunny holidays what do you think of? Did you answer the beach, or did you decide to be difficult? We might be getting off track. Aloha Cluster is a game based on the sunny islands and beaches of Hawaii, and the native structures found within. Is this a holiday worth taking, or is this one island best left undisturbed? Read our review to find out!

This game operates under the use of the NetEnt gambling software system. The talented programmers and designers from NetEnt are well known for going the extra mile in their creations, and Aloha Cluster is no exception. This game was released on the 25th of March, 2016.

The NetEnt system is compatible with a great many devices which are capable of running Flash. This means most PCs, Apple computers and tablets, along with a variety of other mobile devices. Check if your device supports flash, if it does you should be able to run games from NetEnt.

Aloha Cluster Main Game Screen

Beach comes with a total of 0 paylines over 6 reels in a 3×6 layout. 0 paylines!? Yes, this is an odd pokie in that it works with a Cluster Pays system. With this system symbols count as part of a cluster as long as they are located horizontally or vertically adjacent. These need to appear in lumps of 9 or more symbols to count as a cluster.

  • The minimum coins bet sits at 10
  • The maximum coins bet sits at 100
  • Minimum coin size sits a 0.01
  • Maximum coins size sits at 2.00
  • The return to player offered by this game sits at around 96.42%, which is around average.

Options

By clicking on the spanner icon towards the lower left of the game screen the player can access the options menu. This is only a small menu consisting of a total of three options. These are listed below.

Game Settings
  • Quickspin

Enabling this option speeds up the spinning of the reels – this means that these is less time spent waiting around between the time you click spin and when the reels come to rest, speeding up the entire experience.

  • Intro Screen

When toggled this option disables the intro screen from appearing the next time the player starts the game.

  • Spacebar to play

When toggled this options adds spinning the reel with the spacebar as a possible option. This means another simple way of spinning the reels.

  • When cash decreases by an entered amount

Other Helpful Additions

Aloha Cluster also comes with question-mark and ‘i' icons. Both of these detail much the same thing, basic game and winning information, but the ‘i' button does this within the game and the question-mark opens a secondary text page. The page accessed by the ‘i' button also lists all payout information, paylines and bonus info.

Background:

Aloha, hello and goodbye as commonly used by English speakers. Affection, peace compassion and mercy are the more technically accurate translations, but the points are similar. Welcome, and share the love.

The pokie itself it based off  the islands of Hawaii, complete with a smoking volcano sitting off in the background. Including the use of stylised wooden carvings leaves the inspiration of this pokie pretty obvious, though there isn't really much more to say!

Other Features and Bonuses

Aloha Cluster Cluster

Before we get started into the symbols lets take a better look at how the cluster system works. In this feature paylines are avoided in favour of linked adjacent symbols. With the cluster system identical symbols need to be linked either horizontally or vertically. Provided there are a minimum of 9 of these symbols after a spin the player gets a payout.

Aloha Cluster Substitution Symbol

The substitution symbol in Aloha Cluster comes in the form of a brown crate with a white question-mark printed on the face. When this appears it will transform into the adjacent symbol which creates the highest possible winning combination in a cluster. This can appear anywhere on the reels. It cannot substitute for the free spin symbols.

The sticky wins feature can activate randomly when a cluster win is, well, won. During a sticky win re-spin the winning symbols are all held in place, whereas all the other symbols are then spun. When this feature is running it will continue until the further spins generate no additional wins.

Aloha Cluster Free Spin Symbol

The free spins symbol in this game comes in the form of colourful pink, purple and orange free spin tickets or stamps. Gaining three or more of these on a single spin will generate free spins in both the main game and within the free spin game itself.

In the main game:

  • 3 of these give 9 free spins when gathered
  • 4 of these give 10 free spins when gathered
  • 5 of these give 11 free spins when gathered
  • 6 of these give 12 free spins when gathered

When within the free spins game:

  • 3 of these give 1 additional spin when gathered
  • 4 of these give 2 additional spins when gathered
  • 5 of these give 3 additional spins when gathered
  • 6 of these give 4 additional spins when gathered

Aloha Cluster Stacked SymbolsThis game also includes three stacked symbols. These large symbols count as two symbols, whereas the small symbols only count as one. These can only appear when in sticky win re-spins.

Bonus Games

The free spin game in Aloha Cluster is accessed when the player has gathered a minimum of 3 free spin symbols in one spin.

This free spin game also gives the player access to the symbol drop mechanic. With this mechanic low win symbols are removed, which increases the chances of producing a bigger win.

If there are no wins on the last free spin the player will gain an extra free spin until a win occurs.

How to Play:

Basic play for Aloha Cluster is as simple as a player selecting a coin value and level and clicking spin.

If you like the islands, if you like the sun and the beach then this game should appeal to you. All of the graphics within this game a well suited to the theme, and are designed by some obviously talented artists. This extends to the symbols and animations, all of which are fantastically well done. While there are many pokies which use the beach as a focus for a theme there are very few which do as well as Aloha Cluster does. If you had access to a pokie in a Hawaiian resort this is no doubt the type of look they would go for to draw in foreign interest. Not strictly accurate, but lovely to look at. The theme music and the gentle noise of the waves also adds a lot.

In terms of usability Aloha Cluster covers a few of the key bases. Everything here runs well, responds quickly, and the game itself appears very reliable. What is a little bit disappointing is the lack of graphical options. This lack means that players on older or less powerful hardware might have issues getting in on the action.

Where to find it:

NetEnt games stand with Microgaming as some of the most popular available. If you already have a favourite gambling website then check out if they offer NetEnt games, if they do then you might be able to find Aloha Cluster there. If it is not available, or if you want a more direct list then check out the links below.

Rating:

Not the most imaginative when it comes to theme, but still a fantastic game. Graphics, animation and sounds all combine to make lovely pokie to both look at and play. You don't have to be a fan of the islands or theme to enjoy this game, and we would absolutely recommend it to anyone in search of something new. While the bonus structures might not hold your attention for too long you'll probably enjoy the time you do spend.

Guns N’ Roses

Guns N' Roses Basic Information:

There are two things that bring pokies to mind for me. The first is guns. The second is roses. Would it be possible, then, to combine these two concepts into a single game? Apparently so, as Guns N' Roses rocks up to the stage with this officially licensed pokie. Based off the band, whom you may have heard of, this is one of the rare pokies out there to include multiple officially licensed songs. Is the pokie itself worth the effort, or should Guns N' Roses have stuck to rock? Keep reading to find out…

Also on offer is the blue set list button towards the bottom left of the screen. When this is clicked it brings up a list of 5 songs from the GnR catalogue – here the player can simply choose one of these to set it as the backing music of the game. On offer are:

  • Welcome to the Jungle
  • Sweet Child O' Mine
  • Paradise City
  • November Rain
  • Chinese Democracy

Background:

Gun's N' Roses, often shortened to GnR, is an American rock band which was formed in 1985. From their home state of California the band have produced a total of 6 studio albums, totalling over 100 million record sales worldwide.

The band itself includes legendary musicians Axel Rose and Slash. These guys have been working, on and off, since their inception. Of their creations the most popular remains Appetite for Destruction, was released in 1987. This album itself sold around 30 million copies, making it the 11th best-selling album in the United States of all time.

Over the years it was only natural that the band turned their band into a brand, allowing them to take up many more popular avenues of revenue generation. One of these, which you might have guessed, is the pokie which is the focus of this review.

Other Features and Bonuses

Gun N' Roses Wild Symbol

The wild symbol in Guns N' Roses comes in the form of the GnR logo set against a background of green. This can appear anywhere on the reels except reel 3 in the Appetite for Destruction Wild. It can substitute for any symbol except the bonus symbols.

Gun N' Roses Bonus Symbol

The bonus symbol for this game comes in the form of a record with a golden ribbon with the word BONUS being placed in front. These can appear on reels 1,3 and 5. When 3 or more of these are gathered on a single spin the player is randomly awarded 1 of 3 different bonus games: Encore free spins, coin wins and the Crowd Pleaser bonus game. When coin wins are selected the player will need to click the button to stop a spinning roulette wheel. The other games are listed in the bonus games section below.

Gun N' Roses Appetite for Destruction Wild

The Appetite for Destruction wild comes in the form of a cross. This can land on one of 3 possible positions. This substitutes for every symbol except for the bonus. No other features can be active at the same time as this wild.

The Legend Spins feature is activated randomly during regular play. This awards one stacked wild for the first spin. Following this another 2 re-spins are made with 2 stacked wild reels. One the first spin reel 3 is a stacked wild, on the second spin reels 1 and 5 are stacked wilds, and on the third spin reels 2 and 4 are stacked wilds.

Bonus Games

There are two bonus games available from Guns N' Roses. Both of these can be accessed randomly when the player gains 3 bonus symbols in one spin.

The Crowd-Pleaser bonus game is a pick and click game – when this game is active the player must select symbols to randomly reveal rewards. This is separated into 3 different levels.

On the first level the player is given 3 clicks are awarded. When the player manages to gain 60 coins within this game they enter level 2.

In level 2 the player can advance to level 3 when the combined quantity of coins from levels 1 and 2 exceeds 300.

When the player manages to gain a total of 800 or more coins from levels 1,2 and 3 their wins will be multiplied by 2.

The Encore Free Spins is the other of the two bonus games available from the bonus symbols. When this is active the player is given a total of 10 free spins. During this game a band-member will appear on reel 2,3 or 4 during each spin. These count as stacked wilds. Additional free spins cannot be retriggered when within this game.

How to Play:

Basic play for Guns N' Roses is as simple as a player selecting a coin value and level and clicking spin.

There are many great games from NetEnt, and many of these work very well with their theme. Even among these Guns N' Roses stands as one of the best – the graphics here are stylised representations of both the players and various musical items. The background of the game itself appears as a concert, with crowds swaying to the music. Not only does the look stick closely to the attitude of the band, the music is great (if you like GnR). Being able to choose your own background music in pokies is very rare. Being able to choose from a selection of tracks from actual bands is even rarer.

When it comes to usability this is game which operates very well – all of the buttons and links within this game work well, and the game responds very quickly. There are only two areas where I feel the game is a little bit of a let down in this regard. The first is the lack of graphical options, which are always missed and very helpful. The second is the standard betting bar. This seems like a missed opportunity here to change the buttons to drums or anything else related to the band. Still, by keeping it simple they ensure the game is simple to understand, so its not all bad.

Where to find it:

NetEnt games stand with Microgaming as some of the most popular available. If you already have a favourite gambling website then check out if they offer NetEnt games, if they do then you might be able to find Guns N' Roses there. Rating:

If you are a fan of GnR then this is not a game which you will want to miss. On the other hand if you can't stand GnR or their music then you should absolutely avoid this pokie. If you are somewhere in between then we can also recommend getting in on this game. This is a pokie which stands very well on its own feet. Guns and Roses is a great pokie with a fantastic selection of bonuses, so those bonus enthusiasts wont want to miss this one. Check it out and who knows, you might win enough to send yourself to the real paradise city.

Background:

When it comes to background there isn't really a lot to speak of in this pokie. The player appears to be at the beach, and this is apparently a very wealthy beach. Scattered among oddly lettered stones and starfish lie loaded treasure chests. I know where I'm taking my next vacation.

Other Features and Bonuses

Beach Octopus Wild

The Octopus Wild in this game can appear only on column 3. This can substitute for any symbol except the scatter and wild symbols. This wild has the ability to swap the positions of any 2 symbols on adjacent positions on columns 2,3 and 4 (this excludes its own position). All Octopus Wild wins are multiplied by 2.

  • 4 of these give the player 16 free spins when gathered
  • 5 of these give the player 24 free spins when gathered

The free spins game in beach is accessed when the player gains 3 or more scatter symbols in a single spin. These do not need to be on the same payline, or an active payline, in order to generate a win. Additional free spins can be gained from within the free-spin game. The amount used as a bet in the free spin mode is taken from the amount which is bet in the round in which the free spin mode was activated.

Overall Design and Usability:

Colourful, bright and relaxing, all of these words fit perfectly for this pokie. Beach is a lovely looking game, using colour and its cartoonish theme to great effect. Everything within this game is well suited and well designed. Although this can't have been one of the more difficult games to create art for, this is not an area which has been phoned in. If you enjoy a happy and sunny experience then this alone might be enough to draw in many users to this game. What also got me, which I missed at first, was the gentle ocean noise which counts as background noise for this. This is very relaxing to the point where I left the game running in the background even when I finished with my review.

When it comes to usability, this is game which covers most of the bases which you would expect. All of the buttons and options available in this game are fast to respond, and the game itself appears very reliable. What was really appreciated is the graphics options which are so often missing with newer games. While Beach is not a particularly demanding game it is nice that additions such as the graphics options allow it to be run well on older or less powerful devices.

Rating:

Perhaps not the most robust game in terms of bonus structure, but what is included is all of very high quality. Great to look at, great to listen to and great to play, this is yet another case where NetEnt shows the competition how it is done. We here at casinopokies24 can absolutely recommend this game. While it plays great for everyone, it should be noted that fans of relaxing themes should jump right in. This is one Beach worth visiting.

Wild Water

Wild Water Basic Information:

There are a few places which invariably show up as favourite holiday destinations. The lake, the countryside and, in this case, the beach. Wild Water is an attempt to combine the fun of summertime at the beach with the glamour of the 60's and 70's beach fashion, with a small dose of Jawsesque terror thrown into the mix for good measure. Is this a trip worth taking, or should this holiday best be left in the imagination? Keep reading our review to find out…

Other Helpful Additions

Wild Water also comes with question-mark and “i” icons. Both of these detail much the same thing, basic game and winning information, but the “i” button does this within the game and the question-mark opens a secondary text page. The page accessed by the “i” button also lists all payout information, paylines and bonus info.

Background:

There isn't a whole lot to go over here, as Wild Water does not appear to be based off any particular property. Instead, the influence of this pokie comes from the beach fashion which you might have seen in California circa the late 1960's. This includes the hair, belts and hippies, though it seems to avoid the high-waisted apparel which was so popular at the time. Throw in the shark, which is no doubt inspired by the terror jaws, and you have a fun and colourful pokie.

Other Features and Bonuses

Wild Water Main Wild Small

The wild symbol in this game comes in two different forms. Both of these carry the image of a shark. When in the regular game the above symbol will show. This can substitute for any symbol except the scatter symbol. It can also appear on any reel.

While in the free spin bonus game the wild will shift into the following symbol:Wild Water Main Wild Expand

This expanding wild will automatically expand to cover the entire reel when it is gained.

Wild Water Main Wild Free Spin

The scatter symbol in Wild Water comes in the form of an incredibly rad surfer dude who doesn't seem the slightest bit frightened that the ocean he is surfing in is apparently utterly infested with man-eating sharks. When three or more of these are gathered on a single spin the player will be gifted free spins.

  • 3 of these give the player 15 free spins when gathered
  • 4 of these give the player 30 free spins when gathered
  • 5 of these give the player 60 free spins when gathered

This game also includes 2 additional features in the form of the Surf's Up Bonus and the Surf Team Bonus.

With the Surf's Up Bonus any combination of 5 surfer symbols will pay out a bet multiplier of x20 when gained.

The Surf Team Bonus will be activated when the player gains all 5 different surfer symbols over the reels. When this is gained the player will be payed a bet multiplier x200.

Bonus Games

As mentioned above, the free spins game in Wild Water is accessed when the player gains three or more scatter symbols on a single spin. Additional free spins cannot be won from within this game.

How to Play:

Basic play for Wild Water is as simple as a player selecting a coin value and level and clicking spin.

When it comes to design for Wild Water the pokie does very well. All of these included graphics are well designed and are obvious in their representations of old style swimwear and 60's/70's style. The characters are equal parts stylish and dorky, with the man in orange being an especially interesting individual. This extends to the music, which while very well suited, can get a little grating over long periods of time. The only real letdown when it comes to design is the standard betting bar which is simply lifted straight from NetEnt framework. This is not all bad, however, as at least this means players coming from other NetEnt games will be instantly familiar.

In terms of usability this game runs just as you might expect. Everything within this game is easy to find and all the buttons respond quickly. Combined with a reliable base system this makes a game which is all the about the play, and none about the messing around. The only real missing part here is the lack of graphical options. The lack of these means the game might not run well to players on older or less powerful hardware, which is disappointing.

Where to find it:

NetEnt games stand with Microgaming as some of the most popular available. If you already have a favourite gambling website then check out if they offer NetEnt games, if they do then you might be able to find Wild Water there. Rating:

A great pokie with a great theme and great graphics. This sort of style is a difficult thing to pull off, yet NetEnt have yet again made it look easy. If you like the beach or the more chill of pokies, or are just on the lookout for something new then we can absolutely recommend this game. Just know going in that the bonus game selection isn't the best, though it certainly isn't the worst either. This is a game which is great for a while, just don't expect it to hold your attention forever.

Divine Fortune

Divine Fortune Basic Information:

When it comes to the name of pokies some games go for the subtle. Others abandon the pretence with little regard and jump straight into obvious territory. What do we want people to think about when they play our pokie? How about winning lots of money? Okay, good, but we can do better than that. How about Divine Fortune? You know, as in the wealth of the gods? Great, send it to the team! Is the rest of the game as obvious as the name, or is there more to this one? Keep reading to find out…

This game operates under the use of the NetEnt gambling software system. The talented programmers and designers from NetEnt are well known for going the extra mile in their creations, and Divine Fortune is no exception. This game was released on the 25th of January, 2017.

Background:

There are a few different areas in which Divine Fortune takes its inspiration, though these all follow a similar theme: classical mythology. With the game screen being framed with statues and the symbols on the reels carrying such noteworthy additions as the gorgon Medusa and the Nemean lion it seems that Greece and Rome is the name of the game. There isn't really much to add here, except to say that if you are a fan of the classics then you'll get a kick out of this one.

Other Features and Bonuses

Divine Fortune Wild Symbol

The falling wild symbol in this game comes in the form of a white horse head. When this symbol appears the falling wild feature will come into play. When this occurs the symbol will drop one position on the reels. Following this an addition spin will take place. These respins will continue until all wilds have disappeared from the reels. This is available in both regular play and the free spins bonus game.

Related to these wilds is the wild on wild feature. This is activated when a wild is stacked on top of another wild symbol. When this occurs the wilds will then expand to cover the entire reel for one spin.

Divine Fortune Free SpinsThe free spins symbol in this game comes in the form of a fist clutching lightning bolts. When three or more of these are gained in single spin the player gains access to the free spins bonus game. These do not need to appear on an active payline in order to generate a win.

  • 3 of these give 5 free spins when gathered
  • 4 of these give 8 free spins when gathered
  • 5 of these give 12 free spins when gathered

Divine Fortune Medal

The jackpot bonus in Divine Fortune is earned through the above medal symbols. These can combine with combinations of other symbols. When this happens the symbols are send to the amphora to the right side of the screen. When three or more of these are collected the player gains access to the jackpot bonus game.

Bonus Games

As mentioned above, the free spins game in Divine Fortune is accessed when the player gains three or more free spin symbols within a single spin. In this game all wilds will becomes wild on wild, meaning that the wilds will automatically expand to cover the entire reel.

The jackpot bonus game is accessed when the player has collected 3 or more jackpot symbols. When this game is started a 3×5 grid appears. The gathered symbols are then randomly placed on this grid. These will then payout bonuses based on how many consecutive coins appear. This includes the added bonuses of:

  • Minor jackpot when one row is full of bonus symbols
  • Major jackpot when two rows are full of bonus symbols
  • Mega jackpot when three rows are full of bonus symbols

How to Play:

Basic play for Divine Fortune is as simple as a player selecting a coin value and level and clicking spin.

A modern game with a classical theme. Divine Fortune was released at the beginning of 2017, and this is immediately obvious by taking a look at the game. All of the graphics and animations contained within are of extremely high quality, with the statues which appear to have been designed from 3D modelling software being of incredibly high quality. This quality extends to the symbols themselves, the roaring lion and the hissing snake heads of medusa doing a lot to sell the effort which went into this pokie. This is aided by the general gold and red colour scheme and the ambient backing music. Great effort all around here.

Whenever I see a newer pokie, especially one which looks as good as this one, I worry that it might not run very well on my less powerful testing device. In almost all cases, at least when it comes to pokies from NetEnt, I am pleasantly surprised. Even through the game lacks the very helpful graphics options of some of its contemporaries this should be only a minor problem. Everything in this game, from the buttons to the payouts, happens quickly and without stuttering or other issues.

Where to find it:

NetEnt games stand with Microgaming as some of the most popular available. Rating:

When I went into this review I was ready to tear this game apart based on how silly I thought the name. As usual, I was wrong. This is a fantastic creation from NetEnt in almost all areas. This is a pokie which looks great, runs well and has a fun selection of bonuses and bonus structures. You don't need to be a fan of classical Greece in order to appreciate this game – if it's on offer from you casino of choice then we absolutely recommend checking it out.

Theme Park: Tickets of Fortune

Theme Park: Tickets of Fortune Basic Information:

Many properties being changed into pokie you see coming from a mile away. From bands and locations to films – all are fair game when it comes to gambling based spin-offs. Yet this, Theme Park: Ticket of Fortune, is a game which I didn't think likely to ever see a pokie based on it, despite the origin of the name being directly based off of a video-game. Maybe this is because the game seemed more targeted towards children than pokies are, or maybe its because I can't imagine a gambling section within a theme park targeted towards children. My own surprise aside – Is this a park worth visiting, or should you drive on by? Read out review to find out…

Background:

Theme Park is, or maybe was, a popular video game developed by Bullfrog Productions and released in 1994. The general goal of this game and its sequels was to create a popular and successful theme park. This was achieved through the building and placing of ride, managing support staff and even changing the salt and sugar levels of the available food. Not selling enough drinks? Crank up the salt level of your fries? The salt and sugar make your patrons vomit all over the place? Hire a bunch more cleaners.

Over the years there have been many sequels and remakes for this game, over a whole host of different systems. While the idea and legacy of the series remain popular there hasn't been a modern game in the series in around a decade.

Other Features and Bonuses

Theme Park Tickets of Fortune Stacked Wilds

The stacked wild symbol in this game comes in the form of a bunch of attached red carriages. These appear to be from some type of ride, though I cannot fathom which. Stacked wilds appear only on reels 2,3 and 4. These stacked wilds can cover 1, 2 or all 3 spaces on the reels. Stacked wilds can substitute for all symbol except the scatter, bonus and claw symbols.

Theme Park Tickets of Fortune Claw

The claw feature in Theme Park can only appear on reel number 5 in the main game. When this claw lands it grabs a toy from under the reels and a coin is awarded to the player. This coin is worth 2x-15x the current bet.

Theme Park Tickets of Fortune Scatter

The scatter symbols in this game come in the form of golden cards. These can only appear on reels 3,4 and 5. When 3 of these are gained in a single spin the player is giving access to the Theme Park Bonus Wheel.

Theme Park Tickets of Fortune Bonus

The bonus symbol in this game comes in the form of a colourful wheel with the word bonus written in front. This can only appear in reel 5 of the main game. When it is won the player then gains access to the Theme Park Bonus Wheel.

Bonus Wheels

The Theme Park Ticket Wheel game is accessed when the player gains 3 scatter symbols in the main game. This brings up a spinning wheel where the player wins tickets by stopping the spinning of the wheel. These tickets can then be used to enter other bonus games or the Theme Park Map.

The Theme Park Bonus Wheel is accessed when the player has gained the bonus symbol on reel 5. In this game the player stops the spinning wheel by clicking the stop button. If the bonus wheel lands on another bonus game the player is entered into that game. When the player lands on the Theme Park Ticket Wheel icon they are then placed into that ticket wheel game.

Bonus Games 1

Both the Theme Park Ticket Wheel game and Theme Park Bonus Wheel can give the player access to the six different Theme Park Bonus Games. These games are as follows:

Theme Park Tickets of Fortune Punch Bag

In the Punch Bag game the player hits the punching bag and is awarded a coin win of between 2x and 25x the current bet amount.

Theme Park Tickets of Fortune Can Tower

This above symbol represents the Can Tower bonus game. When this game is played the player is presented with 3 towers of 6 cans each. Each can that is knocked down awards the player a coin win, this is current bet x2. If every can is knocked down the player is given the all can towers down bonus. This is worth 864 times initial bet plus all coins won.

Theme Park Tickets of Fortune Sledge Hammer

This symbol represents the Sledge Hammer bonus game. When in this game the player swings the sledge hammer and is awarded between 1x to 100x the current bet.

Theme Park Tickets of Fortune Skee Ball

This represents the Skee Ball bonus game. When in this game the player is tasked with throwing 5 balls into pockets. Each pocket hit awards the player a coin win. This is the current bet multiplied by the number listed on the pocket.

Bonus Games 2

Theme Park Tickets of Fortune FishingYou might be sensing a theme here, as the above symbol represents the Fishing bonus game. When in this game the player gains access to 5 picks of fish. Each of these fish awards a coin win which is between 2x and 50x the current bet. Up to 5 additional picks can also be won from within this game.

Theme Park Tickets of Fortune Duck Shoot

The final of these bonus games is the Duck Shoot game. When in this game the player has 5 shots. Each duck shot rewards the player the base bet multiplied by 1x-50x. In addition to this there is a running total win multiplier in this game. This starts at 1 and is increased by 1 for each duck shot, up to a maximum or 4.

How to Play:

Basic play for Theme Park: Tickets of Fortune is as simple as a player selecting a coin value and level and clicking spin.

If you've ever played a game such as Candy Crush you might know what you're in for when it comes to the look of this game. This is a very bright and colourful design, obviously based off a child and family friendly theme park. Your appreciation of this might not be as great as ours, as the balloons and rides represented within look far more suited to a Happy Meal than they do a pokie. The look is odd, is what we're saying, and can be quite divisive. This is the sort of look which people will either love or hate, so keep that in mind.

When it comes to usability – this is a game which performs very well. While the game does lack the so often overlooked graphics settings it still runs very well, even when played on older or less powerful devices. All of the buttons and payouts here are responsive, and the game itself appears very reliable.

Rating:

A great pokie in some ways, though a bit odd in others. This is a game where the bonus structure and payouts are some of the best, but people can easily struggle with the look and sounds of the game. Maybe if you have an enormous love of theme parks you could stomach playing this game with the music active for a long period of time, but this combined with the gaudy graphics to tend to wear some of us out. Aside from this issue, which is no issue at all for some, this is one of the best offerings from NetEnt which we have had the pleasure to review.

Creature from the Black Lagoon

Creature from the Black Lagoon Basic Information:

Games which borrow from preexisting properties are quite common among online pokies. From Alien to South Park, there are an incredible range of interpretations available in the world of pokies. Many of these are built to capitalise on a currently very popular property, or perhaps a property which is expecting a reboot or revival. Other's, such as Creature from the Black Lagoon, rely on appealing to the nostalgia of older players. Is this a worthwhile revival, or should the creature have remained under the muddy waters? Keep reading to find out…

This game operates under the use of the NetEnt gambling software system. The talented programmers and designers from NetEnt are well known for going the extra mile in their creations, and Creature from the Black Lagoon is no exception. This game was released in early December of 2013.

The NetEnt system is compatible with a great many devices which are capable of running Flash. This means most PCs, Apple computers and tablets, along with a variety of other mobile devices. Check if your device supports flash, if it does you should be able to run games from NetEnt.

Creature from the Black Lagoon Main Game Screen

Creature from the Black Lagoon comes with a total of 25 paylines over 5 reels in a 3×5 layout.

  • The minimum coins bet sits at 20
  • The maximum coins bet sits at 200
  • Minimum coin size sits a 0.01
  • Maximum coins size sits at 0.50
  • The return to player offered by this game sits at around 96.5%, at or slightly higher than average.

Options

By clicking on the spanner icon towards the lower left of the game screen the player can access the options menu. There are a total of 5 sections within this menu, which are listed below.

Game Settings
  • Quickspin

Enabling this option speeds up the spinning of the reels. This means that these is less time spent waiting around between the time you click spin and when the reels come to rest, speeding up the entire experience.

  • Intro Screen

When toggled this enables or disables the intro screen from playing for the next time that the player enters the game.

Animations
  • Intro

This is identical to the option above, where it stops the into clip from playing.

Audio
  • Ambient Sounds

When selected this lets the player enable or disable the ambient noises generated from the game.

  • Sound Effects

As you would expect, when selected this stops all of the game's sound effects.

Graphics Quality

Space Wars  comes with a total of three different graphics settings. These are separated into Basic, Standard and Enhanced. Basic downplays the graphics, making the game run better on older or less powerful machines. Standard sets the game to look like how it was originally designed to be played. When the enhanced setting is selected the game will look better, but the difference in this particular game is not large. Note that the higher the graphical options the more powerful the system it is played on will need to be. This means that is you have trouble running it at enhanced and standard you could consider turning the graphics to basic. This is especially important because overloading your system can cause these games to crash. A crash on a win means the player gets nothing!

Keyboard Shortcuts
  • Spacebar to spin

This option simply adds the ability to spin the reels when pressing the space-bar.

Additional options can be accessed by clicking on the autoplay button. The basic options here allow the play to select from 10, 25, 50 ,75, 100, 250, 500, 750 or 1000 autospins.

The player can also click on the advanced settings button to further customise when their autoplay will end. There are five different stopping scenarios to choose from here:

  • On any win
  • When Free Spins are won
  • When a single win exceeds an entered amount
  • If cash increases by an entered amount
  • When cash decreases by an entered amount

Other Helpful Additions

Creature from the Black Lagoon also comes with question-mark and i help icons. Both of these detail much the same thing, basic game and winning information, but the i button does this within the game and the question-mark opens a secondary text page. The page accessed when the i button is clicked also lists all payout information, paylines and bonus info.

Background:

The basis for this game, and the origin of this franchise, is the 1954 monster horror film of the same name. In this American 3D monster film the creature is discovered in the Amazon. This creature, as it turns out, is some sort of link between land and sea animals. Things turn sour as hostilities arise between the humans of the expedition which uncovered it and the creature, which is given the name Gill-man. Sounds more like a door to door salesman's name than that of a monster, but it was a different time.

Since its original release The Creature from the Black Lagoon has received immense success both commercially and critically. Now considered a classic, the film continues to influence film, television and even music, even in the very different modern age.

Other Features and Bonuses

Creature from the Black Lagoon Wild Symbols

The wild symbol in Creature from the Black Lagoon comes in the form of the title text in front of a green background. This can substitute for any symbol except the free spins symbol. The other two types of wild, the spreading wilds 1 and 2 appear in front of a yellow and orange background respectively. These appear on any reel when in the main game and free spins game and can substitute for any symbol except the free spin and target symbols.

In the main game the wilds act as stickies for a single re-spin.

Creature from the Black Lagoon Free Spins

The free spin symbol in this game comes in the form of a free spin text in front of a blue water background. Gaining three or more of these on a single spins is required to access the free spin bonus game.

  • 3 of these give 10 free spins when gathered
  • 4 of these give 15 free spins when gathered
  • 5 of these give 20 free spins when gathered

 Bonus Games

The free spins bonus game in Creature from the Black Lagoon is gained when the player gathers 3 or more of the free spins symbols in one spin. The amount wagered in these are then three times the amount which was wagered in the round in which the free spins were won. Additional free spins can be won from within this game. Collecting target symbols in this game gives either 1 of 2 different spreading wilds or 10 additional free spins.

How to Play:

Basic play for Creature from the Black Lagoon is as simple as a player selecting a coin value and level and clicking spin. Alternatively the player can maximise their possible bet by simply clicking on the Max Bet button to the right of the spin icon.

Clicking the autoplay button allows the player to go through a selection of different amounts of autospins. From here the user can also click on the advanced settings button when they wish to manually select different stopping scenarios. These include on any win, when free spins are won, if a single win exceeds an entered amount, or if cash increased or decreases by an entered amount.

Overall Design and Usability:

The design of this game is obviously heavily influenced from the period in which the film originated. This can be seen mainly through the appearance and animation of the game's symbols. Whether the old adventurer Carl, the seaworthy Lucas or the beautiful Kay, each of these shows a reverence to the original character actors and the Rockwell style which was so popular at the time of release. The matching animations even appear as scratches left by the creature, which prompts the symbols to cower or take action, as their characters really would. All around this is a great effort, only let down by the default gambling bar which is used to house the games options and operation. Be sure to check out the starting animation at least once, as it's one of the best out there.

In terms of usability this is a game which can stand among the best which NetEnt has to offer. With all of the options which modern pokie players have come to expect, combined with a fast, responsive and reliable base system we are left with a fine example of why NetEnt is one of the best there is.

Where to find it:

NetEnt games stand with Microgaming as some of the most popular available. If you already have a favourite gambling website then check out if they offer NetEnt games, if they do then you might be able to find Creature from the Black Lagoon there. If it is not available, or if you want a more direct list then check out the links below.

Rating:

An interesting theme, great graphics and a solid system help establish Creature from the Black Lagoon as something special. While the bonus system is a little bit lacking we can't but feel the game excels in almost every other area. If you want something new, or a fan of classic films then I can absolutely recommend checking this one out. If you are the type of player who lives and dies by the bonuses then this might not be for you.

Space Wars

Space Wars Basic Information:

The theme of some pokies is difficult to tell by their name alone. Sometime they reference an ancient civilisation, or a historical figure. Other times they simply take an abstract concept and work it into a playable theme that has little to do with its namesake. There are time, however, that you know exactly what you are in for based just off the name, such as is the case with Space Wars. This is a game based on wars, in space. Is it worth your time? Keep reading to find out…

This game operates under the use of the NetEnt gambling software system. The talented programmers and designers from NetEnt are well known for going the extra mile in their creations, and Space Wars is no exception. This game was released in early November of 2013.

The NetEnt system is compatible with a great many devices which are capable of running Flash. This means most PCs, Apple computers and tablets, along with a variety of other mobile devices. Check if your device supports flash, if it does you should be able to run games from NetEnt.

Space Wars Main Game Screen

Space Wars comes with a total of 40 paylines over 5 reels in a 4×5 layout.

  • The minimum coins bet sits at 40
  • The maximum coins bet sits at 400
  • Minimum coin size sits a 0.01
  • Maximum coins size sits at 0.20
  • The return to player offered by this game sits at around 96.8%, at or slightly higher than average.

This enabled or disables the intro screen from playing for the next time that the player enters the game.

Animations
  • Intro

This is identical to the option above, where it stops the into clip from playing.

  • Animations

This toggles the symbol animations from playing. There are two advantages to this. The first is that it slightly speeds up the game, meaning less waiting around. The second is that it makes the game less demanding on the player's hardware, making the game slightly easier to run on older or less powerful devices.

Audio
  • Ambient Sounds

This lets the player enable or disable the ambient noises generated from the game.

  • Sound Effects

As you would expect, this stops all of the game's sound effects.

This is especially important because overloading your system can cause these games to crash, and a crash on a win means the player gets nothing!

Keyboard Shortcuts
  • Spacebar to spin

This option simply adds pressing the space-bar to the ways in which the reels can be spun.

Additional options can be accessed by clicking on the autoplay button. The basic options here allow the play to select from 10, 25, 50 ,75, 100, 250, 500, 750 or 1000 autospins.

The player can also click on the advanced settings button to further customise when their autoplay will end. There are four different stopping scenarios to choose from here:

  • On any win
  • When a single win exceeds an entered amount
  • If cash increases by an entered amount
  • When cash decreases by an entered amount

Other Helpful Additions

Space Wars also comes with question-mark and paytable help icons. Both of these detail much the same thing, basic game and winning information, but the paytable button does this within the game and the question-mark opens a secondary text page. The page accessed by the paytable button also lists all payout information, paylines and bonus info.

Background:

There isn't a lot to speak of here when it comes to the background information of this game. While the name might lead you to believe it has some sort of connection with Star Wars, in reality it looks to be more heavily influenced by animated films such as Monsters.

it makes sense, really, in that combining the name Space Wars with such graphics helps anchor this pokie in two very different and very popular franchises. This gives the game a wider range of appeal than it might have if it were just based of a entirely random theme.

Other Features and Bonuses

Space Wars Wild

The wild symbol in Space Wars comes in the form of white wild text in front of a comic book type explosion. This can substitute for any symbol except the free spins symbol. It can also only appear on reels 2 and 4.

The respin feature in this game is activated once the player wins a bet. When this is activated a new set of reels will appear. When a respin is triggered the winning symbol on the payline will appear in the cloning pod. Following this the symbol is cloned and the cloned symbols are then added onto the respin reels. Respins use the amount which was bet when the round was won as a their betting base.

 Bonus Games

Aside from the above respin feature this game has nothing in the way of bonus games, which is a bit of a disappointment.

How to Play:

Basic play for Space Wars is as simple as a player selecting a coin value and level and clicking spin.

The design of this game is heavily influenced by animated series such as Monsters Inc. and Minions. These often goofy looking little symbols have a lot of character but lack the sort of appeal which might be brought about by characters with actual name recognition. Still, all the characters in this game fit well with the theme of different aliens, though it should be said that none of them appear especially well suited for war. The rest of the game works well to support this theme. This is seen especially well in the play bar which runs across the bottom of the screen. Often it is the case that this bar is simply set as the designed default, but Space Wars brings its own custom bar which is sufficiently space tech in appearance.

When it comes to usability, this a game which does more than it strictly needs to. A lot of great options here, combined with a responsive system which is easy to use and navigate. Given how limited the game is in terms of bonuses NetEnt really went above and beyond here.

Rating:

A game which looks fantastic but is quite difficult to recommend. Space Wars does what it wants to do very well, the problem is that it simply does not want to do too much. Great animations and a lot of character can only do so much to make up for the lack of bonus games and bonus structure. That said, if this sort of thing doesn't bother you, or you just want to try something new, then you should check out Space Wars. Just don't go into this game expecting a game-changer.

Jack Hammer 2

Jack Hammer 2 Basic Information:

Every now and then a pokie becomes so popular that it warrants a sequel. Sometimes this can tie into the type of pokie which is itself tied to something like a film franchise, with each new film bringing in more interest and fans. Other times the sequel comes about because the initial game, by itself, was overwhelmingly popular. This is the case with Jack Hammer 2. Based off the Jack Hammer pokie, Jack Hammer 2 aims to bring more of what the fans loved about the first game, using more modern technology. Is the sequel worth your time, or is it just another case of a simple cash-in? Keep reading to find out…

Additional options can be accessed by clicking on the autoplay button. The basic options here allow the play to select from 10, 25, 50, 75, 100, 250, 500, 750 or 1000 autospins.

Other Helpful Additions

Jack Hammer 2 also comes with question-mark and i help icons. Both of these detail much the same thing, basic game and winning information, but the i button does this within the game and the question-mark opens a secondary text page. The page accessed by the i button also lists all payout information, paylines and bonus info.

Background:

As you might expect, Jack Hammer 2 is based off the original Jack Hammer pokie. While there doesn't appear to be any real story shown here we can infer a lot from the graphics and setting.

These are games which take a heavy influence from the early detective comics, such as Dick Tracy. Here a hard-boiled cop, or private investigator, works to combat the terrible Don Crabby and his goons, while trying to rescue the lounge singer Pearl. Don Crabby is hilarious as a villain, by the way, appearing as a Caponesque gangster figure with the claws of a crab.

Despite the popularity of these comics at the time they have since had their place taken by the more popular comics. Unfortunate, really, as these really had a lot to offer.

Other Features and Bonuses

Jack Hammer 2 Wild

The wild symbol in Jack Hammer 2 comes in the form of yellow wild text in front of a red bullet-holed background. This can substitute for any symbol except the free spins symbol.

Jack Hammer 2 Free Spin

The free spin symbol in Jack Hammer 2 comes in the form of an electric eel which also happens to be mechanical. Gaining five or more of these on a single spins is required to access the free spin bonus game.

  • 5 of these give 10 free spins when gathered
  • 6 of these give 13 free spins when gathered
  • 7 of these give 16 free spins when gathered
  • 8 of these give 20+ free spins when gathered

Jack Hammer 2 Sticky Win

The sticky win feature in this game is accessed on a winning bet. When this occurs the reels with winning symbols are held and the other reels re-spin for a chance of bigger wins. These reels will keep spinning provided there are new wins. When no new wins are generated and sticky win ends then all active wins are payed out to the player.

Jack Hammer 2 Random Wild

The random wilds in this game can appear as different versions of any other of the main symbols. These appear randomly when playing and can substitute for any symbols except for the regular wild symbols and the free spin symbols.

 Bonus Games

The free spins bonus game in Jack Hammer 2 is gained when the player gathers 5 or more of the free spins symbols in one spin. Wins which are gained within this game are doubled. The amount wagered in these are then three times the amount which was wagered in the round in which the free spins were won. Additional free spins can be gained from within the free spins game, but these are not eligible for the free spins multiplier.

How to Play:

Basic play for Jack Hammer 2 is as simple as a player selecting a coin value and level and clicking spin.

The design of this game is one of my favourites, just as the first Jack Hammer was. This is a game which really leans into its comic book roots and, as a result, comes off far better suited to a pokie than almost any other. The main reason this works so well is that the small boxes which contain the symbols effectively give the appearance of a comic book page. While the random location of these symbols means you won't get anything approaching a logical story from the main game screen, it does really sell the look in a fantastic way. This is aided by the fact that the design extends to the betting bar, an area which is usually overlooked by the developers of pokies in an attempt to cut back on cost or time.

When it comes to usability, this game does slightly better than the first Jack Hammer. The options listed here are helpful, though they do miss some key aspects. No graphics options is the biggest problem here. While this is a disappointment in terms of functionality it is not all bad. The game, being as simple as it is, does not require powerful hardware to run. This means that the usually very helpful graphics options might not be needed for Jack Hammer 2. Other than that we have a game which runs and plays very well. Reliable, fast and easy to navigate.

Where to find it:

Rating:

An improvement over a pokie which was already fantastic. Jack Hammer 2 brings the colour and fun of the first Jack Hammer and builds on it. Combine this with a few great bonuses and a very generous free spins system and you have another great pokie from NetEnt. You don't have to be a fan of the look to enjoy this pokie, though if you are you will likely love this one as much as we do.
